November 2020…
…November 2021
1 year ago, we relocated our Book Bank to the Bayview District in San Francisco, and ever since are thriving and working better than ever to get books to children who need them most:
4 programs to meet community needs: Read Aloud for early literacy; Second Reading for public access; Teen Ambassador for student community service; and the Book Bank for all our clients, donors, and volunteers
18 counties served in California: Alameda, Contra Costa, Fresno, Lake, Madera, Marin, Merced, Plumas, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, and Yolo
29 years of continuous service since our founding in 1992
440+ volunteer hours to help process donated books
1080+ services rendered to clients working with low-income children in Title 1 schools, public housing, Boys and Girls Clubs, Head Start programs, shelters, public health clinics, and many other organizations
120,000+ free books given away for children who need books for equity in literacy, learning, and life
160,000+ books received — the most ever in our history! — from individuals, businesses, publishers, authors, and book drives (including many from our wishlists at bookshop.org and amazon.com)
…and when you donate through the end of the year, up to $50,000 in donations will be matched by a group of anonymous benefactors!
We rely on your support of our mission to keep going strong into our 30th year and beyond. Thank you!
